Meditative sound is an excellent way of achieving overall balance and integration and it has a flow on effect whereby a session can lead to further changes in other areas of your life.
Who am I?
My name is Marisa Allen and since the late 1990's I have been on 'the path', informally practicing Advaita Vedanta (non duality) and self inquiry and am a lifelong student of all forms of yoga, learning asana through Iyenga style and Shamatha Meditation and zazen.
I do not refer to myself as a healer, yet my own injuries and health issues set me on a path as I experienced complex post traumatic stress and have spent a litfetime caring for a spinal injury that occured when I was a teenager. This led me to the studying practise of therapeutic sound as I love to bring peace and calm to people.
I offer clients the resources to attend to their own healing. I do not advocate a client to stop taking any prescribed medicines or go against their doctors or health professionals advice.
I have played violin for over 35 years and have been singing for 15 years, professionally releasing numerous albums of original songs, touring and collaborating with diverse musicians and sound artists.

Meditation and Yoga Nidra
I began formal meditation practice in 2011 at the Rongton Buddhist Center, New Market, Brisbane training in the Shamatha or Calm Abiding Technique.
Meditation sessions are Trauma Sensitive informed . Meditation can excerbate existing trauma in practitioners and I aim to create safe ways for people to practise meditation.
Yoga Nidra means yogic sleep. 1 hour of yoga nidra has the benfits of approximately 4 hours of sleep. Yoga Nidra works by taking you into an Alpha or Theta State of pure rest. Often when we we relax we think of watching TV or a movie, reading the paper or having a coffee. This is more distraction than relaxation. In Yoga Nidra we use techniques such as rotation of consciousness, visualization, counting the breath and creating a sankalpa or intention. Yoga Nidra is usually conducted lying down with eyes closed.
Yoga Nidra is a wonderful restorative practise and when combined with sound healing instruments can be integrative for the body and mind. It is also beneficial for memory and learning new things.
Meditation sessions are based around the Shamatha or calm abiding practise that is similar to a zazen sitting practise. I offer various types of meditations from zazen to metta or compassion practise to walking meditations, guided meditations and silent sittings as well as mindfulness practises.
As a practioner of sound medicine, I provide the treatments, resources, and tools for you to bring healing to yourself. I work to create a safe and compassionate environment for you to discover what will help you lead a balanced and more relaxed life.
NB* I do not do remote energy treatments
These are clinical sessions where I work with you, the client, to explore any physical, mental, emotional, spiritual or soul level challenges that can be addressed energetically through sound. I use Tibetan bowls, the human voice, crystal singing bowls, shamanic drums, medicinal tuning forks, gong and many smaller instruments. When deciding to attend a 1-2-1 sound healing session I advise that you have an intention or decision that you would like to address in the session. Sound healing can be beneficial for major life changes as well as relaxation.
For 2 or more people. Sound Immersions are conducted with clients lying down or sitting and are gently immersed in sounds. I use similar instruments as in the 1-2-1 sessions. The beauty of this practice is that you don't have to do anything but close your eyes and relax. Perfect for deep rest and calm.
1 hour sessions including biofield assessment and sound treatment. Recommended 4 sessions for greatest benefit.
Sound Baths are a wonderful experience for deep relaxation. I work with elderly, animals, special needs, corporate and events.
